Venice
Voted most beautiful city in the world? I was skeptical. I was wrong to be skeptical. Very wrong. Our hotel was literally steps away from San Marco’s Square.
As I write this, I’m like the locals sitting in the numerous squares sipping my Aperol Spritz, Aperol, Prosecco and Soda Water. In fact, Aprerol Spritz’s themed bars are all the rage in Italy! I dig the Orange.
There are no cars here. Period. All water Taxi’s. How is this even possible!?
Fast forward to nighttime and it’s otherworldly. No wonder Las Vegas made a casino called the Palazo!
Shout out to my friends who are getting arrived here… wait no that’s in Rome
It really looks like this
Although CoVid has dramatically thinned the crowds…
Art, Basilica’s - Context really matters.
Here are highlights because you’d need to live here to understand.
Grave of Doge Giovani Pisaro - Built on the literal backs of slaves. This church served both as a place of worship and tombs. Super heavy.
Located in the church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari.
“Paradise” by Tintoretto - located in Doge’s Palace. Which also had prisons.
Taken in the Doge Palace prison, bridge of Sigh’s, where outlookers could only get fresh air behind the stone wall.
Food & Drink
Diet Coke aka Coke light, so scarce being replaced by Coke Zero.
Aperol Spritz’s again. Do as they Venetians do.
Antico Forno - they ran out of pre-made pizza so they made our FRESH. (Prosciutto and Fungi)
Seafood Fry and you guessed it, S P R I T Z
Tiramisu Dessert
FUN & MISCELLANEOUS
And my son at home. Who I miss dearly… love you Stitch!
